Stair Remodeling
We remodel your existing staircase — from the treads to the railing.
Dated carpet, worn treads, an orange-oak railing that ages the whole house: you don't need a new staircase, you need the one you have remodeled. We replace the treads, risers, handrails, newel posts, and balusters so your existing stairs look like they belong in the home you have now.

Before & after
The same staircase. Remodeled.
This curved staircase kept its structure — we replaced the carpeted treads, risers, railing, posts, and balusters. That's the point of a remodel: you keep the stairs, we transform how they look.

Before
Worn carpet, dated railing and balusters.

After
New treads, risers, railing, posts, and balusters — same staircase.
One team, from fabrication to the finished staircase.
Because we fabricate stair parts in our own Sterling, VA shop, your remodel isn't assembled from whatever a supplier has in stock. Treads and nosings are made to fit your stairs — and to match your flooring exactly if you have material from the install.
Carpet-to-wood conversions, tread and riser replacement, new handrails, newel posts, and wood or iron balusters — we'll tell you what your staircase needs and quote the full scope up front.
What we replace
- • Stair treads and risers — including carpet-to-wood conversions
- • Stair nosings and landing edges
- • Handrails
- • Newel posts
- • Balusters — wood or iron
How a remodel works
Straightforward from photos to finished stairs.
Every staircase is different, so we quote each remodel individually and give you a clear scope and schedule before any work starts.
- 1
Send photos of your staircase
A few phone photos of the stairs and railing are enough to start. Tell us what you want changed.
- 2
Get a scope and quote
We confirm what needs replacing, help you pick materials and styles, and quote the full job up front.
- 3
We fabricate, then remodel
Parts are fabricated in our Sterling shop, then we remodel the staircase — treads, risers, railing, posts, and balusters.
Best fit for
- • Homeowners replacing carpeted or dated stairs in Northern Virginia and the DC area.
- • Sellers and investors updating a staircase before listing a home.
- • Contractors and remodelers who want a stair specialist handling the staircase scope.
The staircase is the first thing people see.
In most homes the stairs face the front door. A remodeled staircase changes the first impression of the whole house — usually for far less than buyers, guests, or appraisers would guess.
